David Gallop: Football is the most prospective sport in Australia

The Football Federation Australia chief executive David Gallop has stated that the game will become the biggest and most popular sport in Australia .

Speaking at the official launch of the A- League season , which starts on time , said Sydney FC Newcastle held on Friday Gallop football has enjoyed unprecedented growth over the past two seasons .
He referred a 40% increase in the crowds and a 100% boost in TV rates . " I can genuinely say our best years are still ahead of us , " said the former CEO of National Rugby League will launch on Tuesday.

" Soccer will become the biggest and most popular sport in this country . We are football , you're all part of it and I hope you are looking forward to a season nine . "

The season starts at Allianz Stadium just 173 days after the Central Coast Mariners claim the 2012-13 championship in the same location .

Gallop also heaped praise on the marquee stars Alessandro Del Piero ( Sydney FC) , Emile Heskey ( Newcastle) and Shinji Ono ( Western Sydney ) , who was the face of the A - League in their first season last year .

"They signed up again for a second term and that a vote of confidence in the A - League which is invaluable in basic where football in this country - the increase in the technical standards , the intensity of our competition , " he said.
